This family is truly a gem. I wish you could meet them and get to know them personally. They are genuine, fun, and down-to-earth. We met for a fall session at Brush Creek Park, a huge open park with beautiful spots for various backdrops. It was a great spot for kiddos to run around and get wiggles out, but also snuggle up close for an unforgettable family portrait. I love the pond, trees, open space, and quiet side roads. It’s worth checking out even just to spend time together as a family.
I was thrilled when this awesome family booked a fall session with me. I'm well aware that big families tend to have such busy schedules, that scheduling a portrait session would likely be a last priority. In fact, you might have the following reasons NOT to get professional pictures done. But let me tell you, from one mama heart to another, you'll want to reconsider.
1. Your children won't stay this little.
Yes, those night longs seem endless. But those tiny hands and gap-toothed smiles are fleeting moments. You don’t want to forget them. When you get to the season I'm in, where my oldest is inching closer to the end of his high school days and into the college world, you wish you could go back to the days he was swaddled up in a cradle next to your bed. It just goes too fast.
2. Even if you're tired. Even if you haven't lost the baby weight. You are their safe place. That's what they'll remember.
There’s no perfect timing. It just doesn’t exist. At the end of every year we make a slideshow of pictures of our family from that year. And I'm rarely in them. Why? Either because I'm taking the pictures, or more honestly, I'd rather not show my face. I'm constantly unprepared with undone hair, sloppy clothes, no make-up, and exhaustion written all over my face. But I regret not being part of those memories. I regret that they won't remember me in them.
3. God is in the ordinary.
As a Catholic photographer and mom of six, I believe that motherhood is a vocation and every part of it deserves to be honored. The fingerprints on your windows. The bedtime snuggles. The chaos of family life. It's all holy. It’s about striving to be a family of saints. It's about your journey together to Heaven!
I want to help you remember.
I offer a faith-filled, guided session. I pray with you and for you, especially on the way to your session.
I guide you so you never fell awkward or unsure. I have a custom-made Welcome Guide with outfit tips, and reassurance about how the session will go. I have six kiddos—I know the chaos all too well! Let me worry about capturing your best.
Finally, I'll send you an online gallery of high resolution hand-edited images that you can print, frame or gift. (Hello, Christmas cards!)
Think of this as an investment in your family's story. Don’t fret about a challenging kiddo—I’ve got some tricks (and a few prayers) up my sleeve.
This is exactly what grace looks like right now.
I'll walk you through the process step by step. We'll choose the perfect location, style your family beautifully, and create something truly meaningful together.
