For all the moms who shy away from the camera—you are worthy of being seen.
As a Cranberry Township newborn photographer, I have had many moms tell me their concerns about being in front of the camera or feeling uncomfortable getting in the shot. Maybe you can relate. As a mom, I understand the anxiety. But I wish you could see what I see!!
You are the one quietly documenting your family’s life—the small hands wrapped around yours, the laughter at the table, the ordinary days that somehow feel holy. Even though a day might seem to go on forever, you know this season is fleeting, and your heart aches to remember it well.
When you look back at family photos how often do you see yourself?
Many mothers say, “I just want pictures of my family.” What they are really longing for is to remember this sacred season of life. And here is a truth rooted deeply in our faith: you are not separate from those memories—you are essential to them.
You Are Made in the Image of God
Scripture tells us that we are made imago Dei—in the image and likeness of God. That truth was revealed more fully when you became a mother. You are a gift. Through your body, God invited new life into the world. Through your fiat, you participated in His creative work. Motherhood is not only something you do; it is something you are. And that makes you worthy of being seen.
Your Body Tells a Sacred Story
So many moms feel pressure to wait: until their body changes, until they feel more confident, until life feels more “together.”
But your body right now tells a holy story.
It has carried life.
It has comforted, nourished, and sacrificed.
It has stayed up late, risen early, and poured itself out in love.
This is not a body that needs fixing.
This is a body that has co-created with God and there is a reverent beauty in that.
Being in the Frame Is an Act of Love
Choosing to be photographed is not about vanity, but about humility. You are willing to be seen as God sees you! Your children will never look at these images and see what you fear. They will see their mother: the one who loved them first; the one who makes home feel safe; the one whose presence reflects God’s tenderness to them. One day, these images will help them remember not just what their childhood looked like, but what love looked like.
You Belong in These Memories
This season of motherhood (messy, grace-filled, exhausting, and beautiful) is a vocation. It is holy ground.
You are part of your family’s story. And it is beautiful to honor the work God has done through you by letting yourself be seen.
You are valuable.
You are chosen.
You are beautiful, body and soul.
And you deserve photographs that reflect the sacredness of the life you are living right now.
My family has been friends with the family in this session for several years now, and I have nothing but high praise for them! They are wonderful and I truly enjoy learning from them and spending time with them. And I think you’ll agree that this mama is truly stunning. I try to remember all the families I’ve photographed in my daily prayers—this family is no exception! May they be blessed!
